Hotels in Karpas: Where to Stay and Relax by the Sea
Karpas is one of the quietest and least developed areas of Northern Cyprus. People come here less for extensive hotel infrastructure than for the sea, long beaches, small coves and the chance to spend a few days away from major resort areas. Small hotels with restaurants and access to the sea operate in the Dipkarpaz area and along the coast, making them a convenient choice both for a beach holiday and as a base for exploring the peninsula.

What makes a holiday in Karpas special
Karpas occupies the eastern part of Northern Cyprus and is noticeably different from the main resort areas. There is less dense development, more open natural spaces, small coves and long sandy beaches.
People come to the peninsula for the sea and nature, Dipkarpaz, Golden Beach, the Monastery of Apostolos Andreas and trips to the easternmost part of Northern Cyprus. A holiday here suits those who prefer small hotels and a quiet coastline to large resort complexes.
Karpas hotels are generally small and located away from densely developed resort areas. Their main advantages are their proximity to the sea, natural beaches and the peninsula’s main routes. You can spend a weekend or a full holiday here, combining time on the beach with trips around Karpas.
Blue Sea Karpasia

Blue Sea Karpasia Hotel is a five-star hotel on the seafront in the Dipkarpaz area. It is part of a hotel and tourism group that also includes the well-known Les Ambassadeurs Hotel & Casino in Kyrenia. However, Blue Sea Karpasia has a very different concept: the focus here is on the sea, its private beach area and the natural surroundings of Karpas.
The hotel operates on a Bed & Breakfast basis. Accommodation options include standard rooms and suites, including rooms with sea views. The property has a garden and terraces, and the hotel offers direct access to the coast.
The main place to relax by the sea is the private Afrodit Beach area. It has six separate beach pavilions, which can be rented for an additional fee. Drinks are served on the beach, and food and drinks can be ordered near the pier. Canoes and bicycles are available for active recreation.
The hotel is home to Turkuaz Restaurant. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served here, with local dishes on the menu. The restaurant is open from 08:00 to 02:00. Breakfast is included in the Bed & Breakfast accommodation concept.
İskele Bar is located right by the sea. It is open from 09:00 to 19:00. A separate snack menu is available from 12:00 to 17:00. This is one of the hotel’s main spots for relaxing by the water and watching the sunset.

Burhan’s Hotel

Burhan’s Hotel is a three-star family hotel on the Karpas seafront, with its own beach, an outdoor swimming pool, a restaurant and a large sea-view terrace. The hotel has just 34 rooms, making it noticeably smaller than large resort complexes.
Burhan’s began in 1995 as a family hotel project. The current building was constructed in 2017–2018, and the hotel has operated in its current format since 2018.
Burhan’s main feature is its location right by the sea. The hotel has its own beach area, and there is an outdoor swimming pool beside the shore. The property also has a garden, a sun terrace and a poolside relaxation area.
The rooms have balconies and overlook the sea, garden or pool. Double rooms are about 30 m². More spacious options are available for families: a family room of about 42 m² can accommodate up to five people. The rooms have air conditioning, a refrigerator, a television, a kettle and tea and coffee-making facilities.
Breakfast is included in the accommodation price. The restaurant serves local dishes and offers different breakfast options. Live music is performed on some evenings.
Location
Livana Hotel
Livana Hotel is located north of Dipkarpaz, near Dipkarpaz Piknik Alanı and the peninsula’s northern coast. Its location makes it an especially convenient option for those who want to explore not only the southern road through Karpas but also its northern side.
There is no feel of a large resort here either: the area’s main attractions are the sea, the natural surroundings and the opportunity to continue travelling further along the peninsula.
Location
Karpas Bungalows and Eco-Hotels
Hotels are not the only accommodation option on the peninsula. Karpas has wooden cabins, traditional stone houses and small eco-complexes surrounded by nature. These include Root Karpasia, Wooden Nest, Karpaz Arch Houses and Loft Karpasia.
We have covered these separately in the article “Eco-Hotels and Wooden Cabins on the Karpas Peninsula”. This type of accommodation is better suited to those looking for more than a conventional hotel room, such as a separate cabin or a more secluded place to stay.
How to choose a place to stay in Karpas
When choosing accommodation in Karpas, it makes sense to focus primarily on its location. Here, the distance to the part of the coast you want to visit is often more important than the number of hotel services.
If you want to stay right by the sea
Consider small coastal hotels, including Paradise Karpaz and Blue Sea Karpasia. This option lets you spend mornings and evenings by the water and drive less.
If you plan to explore the peninsula
It is more convenient to choose accommodation in or near Dipkarpaz. From here, you can plan routes along both the southern and northern coasts and continue towards the eastern part of the peninsula.
If you want a secluded stay
Consider small hotels and houses away from densely developed areas. This type of accommodation is the most characteristic of Karpas.
If you want a classic resort hotel
Karpas is generally not geared towards large resort complexes with numerous swimming pools, shopping galleries and extensive entertainment programmes. For this type of holiday, it is usually more convenient to look at hotels in Bafra and other more developed resort areas of Northern Cyprus.
What to see during a holiday in Karpas
Staying on the peninsula is easy to combine with road trips. The main destinations include Dipkarpaz, natural beaches, Golden Beach and the eastern part of the peninsula.
You can set aside a separate day for the beaches. The coastline here varies: there are long sandy stretches, small coves and places that are almost entirely undeveloped. You can read more about them in the article “Karpas Beaches”.
During trips around the eastern part of the peninsula, you may also come across the famous Karpas donkeys. They roam freely in the area, so be aware that animals may appear on the roads.
Frequently asked questions
Are there hotels right by the sea in Karpas?
Yes. Small hotels operate along the coast, including Paradise Karpaz Hotel & Restaurant and Blue Sea Karpasia. These are not large resort complexes, but more intimate accommodation options.
Where is the best place to stay for trips around Karpas?
The Dipkarpaz area is a convenient base for trips to the beaches and the eastern part of the peninsula. When choosing, consider which side of the coast you plan to visit more often.
Are there bungalows in Karpas?
Yes. The peninsula has wooden cabins, traditional houses and small eco-complexes. They are featured in a separate article about Karpas eco-hotels and wooden cabins.
Can you visit Karpas for just one day?
Yes, but keep the distances in mind. If your goal is Dipkarpaz, Golden Beach and the eastern part of the peninsula, a round trip from Kyrenia or Nicosia will take up a significant part of the day. Spending several days there allows you to explore the area at a more relaxed pace.
Are there large five-star hotels in Karpas?
Small hotels, family-run hotels and nature-based accommodation are more typical of the peninsula. Large resort complexes are concentrated mainly in other areas of the eastern coast of Northern Cyprus.
Do you need a car for a holiday in Karpas?
A car makes independent trips much easier. Attractions, beaches, villages and small hotels are located considerable distances from one another, and public transport does not offer the same freedom to explore the peninsula.
