Power Outage at Teknecik Station: KIB-TEK Explains Nationwide Electricity Interruptions
The Turkish Cypriot Electricity Authority (KIB-TEK) has issued an official statement addressing the widespread power outages that affected Northern Cyprus yesterday. According to the statement, the disruptions were caused by a fault in a high-voltage line at the Teknecik power station.
Following the activation of a backup transmission line, the station was brought back online, and electricity supply was gradually restored to the affected areas. KIB-TEK assured the public that all regions would be reconnected as quickly as possible. Repair work at the station is still ongoing.
In response to rumors circulating on social media, KIB-TEK firmly denied claims that the station is running out of fuel. The authority emphasized that it currently holds a two-month fuel reserve.
The fault at Teknecik occurred late yesterday evening, leading to power supply interruptions across the island due to the failure of the high-voltage line.
