Çatalköy–Esentepe Municipality buys two vehicles to fight fires and floods
Çatalköy–Esentepe Municipality in Northern Cyprus has bought two new emergency response vehicles to respond more quickly to fires and flooding after heavy rain. The vehicles were purchased with the municipality’s own funds, without outside financing.

One vehicle is planned to be stationed in Çatalköy and the other in Esentepe. This will allow crews to reach the scene more quickly, but the vehicles will not be restricted to their respective villages: when needed, both will respond to any settlement within the municipality.
The main purpose of the new vehicles is to speed up the initial response at the earliest stage, before a fire spreads, as well as during flooding caused by heavy rain.
“We know how important it is to respond quickly to fires and floods in our area. That is why the municipality has bought two new emergency response vehicles using its own funds,” said Çatalköy–Esentepe Mayor Ceyhun Kırok.
The purchase coincided with another spell of bad weather: according to the TRNC Meteorological Department’s forecast, heavy rain and thunderstorms will continue in Northern Cyprus until Monday, October 5, while northerly winds will strengthen at times.
