Guterres to hold a series of meetings in Cyprus
The detailed programme for UN Secretary-General António Guterres’s visit to Cyprus, which will take place from 27 to 29 July, has been announced.
According to media reports, Guterres will arrive on the island on the evening of 27 July together with his aides Jean-Pierre Lacroix and Rosemary DiCarlo. His personal representative, Maria Angela Holguin, will also be in Cyprus.
On 28 July, the Secretary-General will meet separately with Northern Cyprus President Tufan Erhürman and Greek Cypriot administration leader Nikos Christodoulides. He will then lay a wreath at the UN memorial at the Ledra Palace Hotel and visit the anthropological laboratory of the Committee on Missing Persons.
Meetings with the negotiators, the heads of the bicommunal technical committees and representatives of civil society are also scheduled for the same day. In the evening, the leaders will attend a closed-door dinner at the residence of the UN Special Representative in Cyprus.
On 29 July, Guterres will hold a second round of separate meetings with the leaders. They will take place at the office of the UN Good Offices Mission on the site of the former Nicosia airport.
After the visit, the UN Secretary-General will hold a press conference.
