Internet in Northern Cyprus to become 30% more expensive from October
In October, the TRNC Telecommunications Department is due to raise tariffs for internet services and leased communication lines by 30% plus VAT. Providers warn that the increase will directly affect subscribers’ bills.

The Telecommunications Department is a government agency whose infrastructure is used by private internet providers in Northern Cyprus to connect their customers. That is why any change to its tariffs immediately affects retail prices.
Providers told Kıbrıs Postası that after the increase, it will be impossible to continue offering services at current prices. “We will no longer be able to sell internet. These surcharges will go directly onto internet bills,” the companies said.
According to the publication, the new tariffs are due to take effect for providers on 5 October, and subscribers will already see higher charges in their bills for that month, including the 30% increase and VAT. Market participants also expect the cost of leased lines, used by companies and organisations, to rise by the same amount.
The increase in telecommunications tariffs is the latest in a series of price rises in the TRNC: from April to October, cylinder gas became 33.6% more expensive, fuel 26%, and electricity 22%.
