The only longevity medicine specialist in Northern Cyprus: Dr. Ahmet Özyiğit
Dr. Ahmet Özyiğit, a physician at Elite Hospital and a specialist in metabolic medicine, stated in an interview with Gündem Kıbrıs newspaper on March 26, 2026, that he is the only doctor in Northern Cyprus specializing in anti-aging and longevity medicine. During the conversation, he discussed his professional journey and approaches to healthy aging.
Özyiğit was born in 1981 in Famagusta. He initially received an education in economics and even defended a doctoral dissertation in the field; then, at the age of 32, he entered medical school and graduated from Lefkoşa University. Following a two-year fellowship in longevity in the USA and passing American certification exams, he focused his practice on a preventive, holistic approach to health.
According to him, longevity medicine is not just about aesthetics, but a systemic effort to prevent diseases before they appear: assessing biological age, correcting metabolism, hormonal balance, mitochondrial support, and reducing chronic inflammation. Practical recommendations for residents include: proper nutrition minimizing ultra-processed foods, regular physical activity, quality sleep, stress management, maintaining social connections, and the targeted use of supplements as a complement to, but not a replacement for, lifestyle. The interview will continue tomorrow.
