In Northern Cyprus, the 21.66% cost of living difference has been fully reflected in disability payments
Prime Minister Ünal Üstel announced on January 28, 2026, that the 21.66% cost of living difference for the first half of 2026 has been fully reflected in cash payments to people with disabilities in Northern Cyprus.
According to Ünal Üstel, this was implemented through a decree-law “On Compensating the Gap Between the Minimum Wage Share and the Cost of Living Difference for Recipients of Disability Cash Assistance.” According to official data, 5,855 citizens will benefit from this measure.
Ünal Üstel stated that all recipients of disability cash assistance will receive an additional amount for six months. As a result of the adjustment, the maximum disability payment has been increased to 62,292 TL, and the minimum to 31,146 TL.
The Prime Minister noted that the measure also applies to new beneficiaries who may arise during the six-month period. He emphasized the government’s commitment to the principle of the social state and recalled measures to promote employment of people with disabilities implemented over more than 25 years.
Official statements and parameters of the decree-law were published by the government as a document aimed at mitigating the impact of rising living costs on socially vulnerable population groups.
