New minimum wage meeting to take place on July 16
The Minimum Wage Determination Commission in Northern Cyprus will meet again on July 16 at 10:00 to continue discussing the amount of the second minimum wage of the year.
Following the previous meeting, the secretary general of the Free Trade Unions Federation (Hür-İş), Ali Yeltekin, said the sides held talks but had not yet reached a final decision.
According to him, the Minister of Labour and Social Security presented his own calculations to the participants, but the new minimum wage should be based on the official inflation rate published by the Statistical Institute.
Yeltekin recalled that inflation for the first half of 2026 stood at 16.95%, and this figure, according to the unions, should form the basis for revising the minimum wage.
At the next meeting, representatives of workers, employers and the state will once again discuss the possible amount of the new minimum wage.
