Nightclub Waiter in Alayköy Suspected of Stabbing Attack

At the Alayköy nightclub, a waiter attacked a 42-year-old patron with a knife. The incident took place at around 05:00 on 7 July.

According to police, the 26-year-old club employee, who was under the influence of alcohol (90 mg of alcohol), stabbed the patron twice in the area of the right chest during an argument.

The injured man was taken to the State Hospital in Lefkoşa, where he was placed under doctors’ observation after receiving first aid.

The suspect was detained. Police said the investigation is ongoing: the weapon used in the attack has not yet been found, the suspect’s clothing is being searched for, witnesses are being questioned, and CCTV footage is being reviewed.

The detained man did not admit guilt. In court, he stated that he works as a waiter, was in his room at the time of the incident, and came out into the club yard after hearing shouting. According to him, three men caused a disturbance, he escorted them out of the premises, and later, when they tried to return, one of them fell and injured himself.

The court ordered that the suspect remain in custody for three days to allow the investigation to continue.
