Another suspect detained in fake driver’s licenses case
Police in Northern Cyprus announced a new arrest as part of the investigation into a scheme to legitimize fake driver’s licenses.
According to the investigation, from October 2025 to April 2026 a group of people arranged fake foreign driver’s licenses for foreign nationals who did not have driving licenses. The documents were then submitted to one of the driving schools in Kyrenia, where they were used to obtain driver’s licenses in Northern Cyprus. In this way, the suspects, according to police, gained illegal financial profit.
Seventeen people had already been arrested in this case earlier.
During further investigation, police identified the involvement of another suspect in the criminal scheme. On July 6, a 31-year-old man was detained.
The investigation continues.
