The court in Northern Cyprus has ordered that the man suspected of carrying out a knife attack at one of Alayköy’s nightclubs be held in custody for three days.

According to police, the incident occurred on July 7 at around 05:00. It is alleged that Y.A., who was intoxicated with 90 mg/100 ml of alcohol, stabbed the visitor identified by the initials C.A.U. twice in the right chest area during an argument.

The injured man was taken to Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Nicosia, where he was kept under medical observation after receiving first aid.

The investigation is ongoing. Police are searching for the alleged weapon used in the crime and the suspect’s clothing, as well as reviewing CCTV footage and interviewing witnesses.

Y.A. himself denied the charges. He said he works as a waiter at the nightclub and was trying to remove three aggressive patrons from the venue when the incident occurred. According to him, one of them was injured when he fell, rather than as a result of an attack.

Judge Şevket Gazi granted the prosecution’s request and ordered the suspect to remain in custody for three days.
