Interim results of the migration amnesty in the TRNC
TRNC Interior Minister Dursun Oğuz shared the first official figures from the large-scale migration amnesty currently under way in Northern Cyprus. The legalization process for foreign citizens continues, and the ministry is actively accepting new applications.
To date, 3,073 applications have been registered from foreigners seeking to regularize their legal status. Of this number, 1,977 people submitted applications while being directly inside the TRNC with expired visas or residence permits.
Another 1,096 applications came from those currently abroad. These people are taking advantage of the window of opportunity that has opened to lift the existing entry ban and clear accumulated fines for past visa violations.
The document review process is in full swing, and the application intake is still open. The TRNC authorities expect that this measure will finally help bring the labor market out of the shadows and put foreign resident records in Northern Cyprus in order.
