Investigation into the possession of prohibited digital content continues

In Famagusta, the investigation continues into a 21-year-old local resident who was detained after materials violating legislation on the protection of minors were found on his electronic devices.
Initially, the young man was taken into custody on June 2 on a complaint about an invasion of privacy: he was accused of posting personal videos online without the other party's consent. During a search at the suspect's residence, police officers seized a mobile phone and a computer for examination.
During the initial analysis of the digital data, specialists from the relevant department discovered hidden files containing inappropriate content involving minors. At the early stage, experts were examining about 11,000 media files, but during a more in-depth analysis of the overall data volume, the number of materials under review increased to almost 30,000.
Given the need for a large-scale technical examination of all seized devices and verification of the information distribution channels, the investigation requested additional time from the court.
Considering the seriousness of the charges and the volume of unexamined data, the court granted the request of law enforcement officers and extended the detainee's custody by another 7 days.
