Tonight, a “smile” will appear in the sky

Tonight, residents of Cyprus and other regions will be able to observe a rare and striking astronomical phenomenon — a triple conjunction of the Moon, Saturn, and Neptune, which will visually resemble a smiling face.
The crescent waxing Moon will form the “smile,” while the planets Saturn and Neptune will appear as two “eyes” above it.
How and when to observe:
- The phenomenon will be visible immediately after sunset, low above the western horizon
- The Moon and Saturn can be seen with the naked eye
- Neptune is a very faint object and will require binoculars or a telescope
- It is best to choose an open location where buildings and trees do not block the horizon
In astronomy, such a phenomenon is called a conjunction — when several celestial bodies appear very close to each other from Earth’s perspective.
This rare sight will be a real treat for both astrophotographers and all lovers of the night sky.
