A road accident occurred on 6 July at around 12:45 on the access road to Eastern Mediterranean University in Famagusta, at the Tantura junction.

According to police, 39-year-old Suna Aygün, driving vehicle AB 329 F, was heading south and, as she entered the junction, failed to give way to vehicles travelling on the main road.

At that moment, vehicle EC 252, driven by 38-year-old Yeşim Özçınar, was travelling on the Famagusta — Lefkoşa highway. Police determined that the driver did not slow down as she approached the junction, resulting in a collision.

After the impact, vehicle EC 252 veered onto the median strip and crashed into a road sign, while the AB 329 F car ended up on the traffic island.

Both women sustained minor injuries. They were taken to Famagusta State Hospital, where they were discharged home after receiving medical treatment.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident is ongoing.
