The 22nd Cyprus Theatre Festival opens in Lefkosia
The 22nd Cyprus Theatre Festival, traditionally organized by the Turkish Municipality of Lefkosia, has started in Lefkosia. The official opening of the major cultural forum was marked by a performance of «The Great Romulus» (Büyük Romulus), based on the play by Friedrich Dürrenmatt, presented on the local stage by the Istanbul State Theatre ensemble.
The premiere took place to a full house. Among the audience were officials, representatives of public organizations and cultural figures. In their welcoming remarks, the organizers noted the festival’s importance for maintaining the city’s cultural standing and expanding international cooperation in the field of theatre. As part of the festival program, residents and visitors to the capital can look forward to a series of performances by various theatre troupes.
