Teenager in Lefkoşa dragged by car during attempted robbery
A 15-year-old teenager in Lefkoşa was injured while trying to recover a phone stolen from him by an attacker. The suspect was detained in Famagusta.
The incident took place on July 5 at around 00:15 in the Metahan area of Lefkoşa.
According to police, a 24-year-old man drove up to the teenager in a car and, under the pretext of asking the time, asked him to take out his phone. When the young man took an iPhone 17 Pro Max out of his pocket, the suspect snatched it together with the case containing €100 and tried to flee.
The teenager grabbed the car door in an attempt to get his property back, but the driver did not stop and kept moving. The minor was dragged several metres by the car, then fell onto the road and was injured. The victim was taken to hospital, where he is receiving treatment.
During the investigation, police reviewed CCTV footage and identified the suspect. The man was detained in Famagusta and taken into custody.
The investigation is ongoing.
