Driver Fined 34,000 Lira for Throwing Sunflower Seed Shells on the Road in the TRNC
In Northern Cyprus, a driver has been fined 34,000 lira for munching on sunflower seeds in his car and tossing the shells out the window while driving. This sunflower seed enthusiast will pay the hefty fine for polluting the environment.
The incident was highlighted by Hüseyin Amcaoğlu, the mayor of the Gönyeli - Alayköy municipality, on his social media page.
The driver's irresponsible actions were captured on dashcam footage, which ignited a wave of public outrage and sparked intense discussions on social media.
After the mayor brought attention to the video, the police got involved in locating the driver. Eventually, they identified the individual, who was apprehended and fined.
Hüseyin Amcaoğlu emphasized that such reckless behavior will not go unpunished in the future and urged citizens to be more mindful of keeping their surroundings clean.
"We must all take responsibility for maintaining the cleanliness of our environment and roads. Our citizens also play a crucial role in protecting that cleanliness. We will always stand firmly against such irresponsible actions," the mayor stated.
