Fuel Prices in TRNC May Rise by 2.5 Liras
The TRNC Minister of Economy and Energy, Olgun Amcaoğlu, stated that a fuel price increase of approximately 2.5 Turkish Liras may be announced on Thursday.
According to him, the decision is linked to the rise in global oil prices: Brent crude has climbed from approximately $72 to $80 per barrel.
At the same time, the minister emphasized that there is no cause for panic and that the fuel supply situation is under control. For about 3.5 years, an automated monitoring system has been operational in the country, tracking fuel stocks at 142 gas stations in real time.
"Even if supplies are temporarily halted, the country can meet its needs for about a month," Amcaoğlu noted.
He also added that over the last six weeks, the government has already compensated for about 6.5 liras of potential price hikes through the Price Stability Fund to reduce pressure on consumers.
The final decision on prices is expected to be announced by the authorities following a tariff review in the coming days.
