Strike at Nicosia District Land Registry Suspended

Four public sector unions in the TRNC have temporarily suspended their strike at the Nicosia District Land Registry, following assurances that issues within the department will be resolved by December 15.

The one-day strike was announced earlier by the Turkish Cypriot Public Servants’ Union (KTAMS), the Turkish Cypriot Public Workers’ Union (KAMUSEN), the Public Workers’ Union (KAMU-İŞ), and the Union for Equal Rights and Justice (HAKSEN). The protest stemmed from a shortage of staff and inadequate equipment in the department.

In a joint press statement, the union leaders emphasized the urgency of resolving the problems:
"The issues at the Nicosia District Land Registry must be addressed as soon as possible. If not, the strike will resume."

The suspension follows a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Housing from the Ministry of Interior, during which steps were outlined to tackle the deficiencies.

"Our strike is suspended until December 15, as some issues have already been addressed, and we have been assured that the remaining problems will be resolved by this date," the unions declared.
