Several Streets in Lefkoşa to Be Temporarily Closed Tomorrow Due to Road Works
Municipal services in Lefkoşa have officially warned residents and visitors to the capital about road works scheduled for tomorrow, due to which traffic on some central streets and avenues of the city will be temporarily restricted or completely closed. Special teams from the roads department will begin large-scale laying of a new asphalt surface to improve the quality of the road network. The authorities urge motorists to plan their routes in advance, take possible delays into account and strictly follow temporary traffic signs.
According to the schedule of the municipal services, repair work will begin early in the morning in order to minimize congestion during rush hour, and will continue until the technological cycle of laying the road surface is fully completed. Traffic police inspectors will be on duty at key interchanges to redirect traffic flows onto alternative bypass routes. The municipality asks vehicle owners not to leave their cars on the shoulders of streets scheduled for repair, as parked vehicles that interfere with the work of special machinery will be forcibly towed to impound lots.
The city administration expressed its apologies for the temporary inconvenience, stressing that these measures are part of a long-term program to modernize and repair the capital's urban infrastructure. Completion of the work on the specified sections will make it possible to significantly improve road safety and reduce wear on vehicle suspension systems. Residents of houses adjacent to the repair zone are advised to keep their windows closed during the day because of the increased noise level and the smell of hot asphalt.
