CREMULATOR
MAKSIM SUKHANOV in the performance by MAKSIM DIDENKO based on the novel ‘CREMULATOR’ by Sasha Filipenko
‘Cremulator’ is the first production of Sasha Filipenko's novel of the same name, written on the basis of interrogation documents of the director of the first crematorium in the USSR.
It is the story of a White Guard pilot-officer Pyotr Nesterenko, who, after a long ordeal of emigration in the early 20th century, makes a deal with the Soviets and returns to his homeland.
This is a story about forging and choosing one's truth, about its burning and blotting out of several generations, about emigration and the war of the last century; about Faith and great love, which means nothing if its devoted audience is a tyrant.
The play ‘Crematorium’ is an acclaimed production with a star-studded cast of a new independent Russian-language theatre in Europe. It premiered in Berlin in February 2024. The lead roles are played by Maxim Sukhanov, a former actor at the Vakhtangov Theatre, Svetlana Mamresheva, well known for her work at the Gogol Centre, and Igor Titov, a graduate of Brusnikin's workshop.
