Exhibition “The History of Video Games”

From 12 to 17 September, the foyer of the Pallas Theatre by the Paphos Gates will host the exhibition “The History of Video Games”. The exhibition is dedicated to the development of game consoles, home computers and digital technologies — from early home systems and the pixel era to new generations of gaming platforms. It is intended both for those who grew up with a controller in their hands and for a younger audience interested in tracing the history of gaming culture.

The exhibition is presented by the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra Foundation together with the Crete Museum of Video Games and the Cyprus Computer Museum. It features selected exhibits from the collections of the two museums: iconic consoles, computers, games, controllers, printed materials and other items from different periods. The exhibition explores technology not only as a form of entertainment, but also as part of the broader history of creativity, technology and the personal memories of several generations.

The Crete Museum of Video Games houses more than 400 consoles, rare games and related items, while the Cyprus Computer Museum has operated in Nicosia as a non-profit educational organisation since 2018. On 12 and 13 September, the exhibition is open from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 16:00 to 19:00; on 15–17 September — from 18:00 to 20:00. Information: +357 22 463144.
