Due to the war in Ukraine, many residents of the country have had to seek refuge in various European countries, and Cyprus is no exception.

Without a visa, Ukrainian citizens can stay in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus for only 90 days, but it is evident that many have to stay on the island much longer. For such cases, there is a temporary protection program.

What is included in the temporary protection for Ukrainian citizens in Cyprus:

временная защита украинцев на кипре

Housing

Ukrainian citizens who have received temporary protection in Cyprus have the opportunity to get free housing. The Ministry of Tourism provides a chance to book a free room in a hotel. However, for those who can afford it, it is better to independently search for rented housing due to bureaucratic difficulties.

Financial aid

Citizens of Ukraine with temporary protection are provided with financial assistance of €340 one-time. If it concerns a family, the amount may be different. To receive these payments, you need to fill out a form, indicating a local phone number, and they will inform you when you can get the money.

Healthcare

Free medical assistance can be obtained at all state hospitals. To do this, you should contact the hospital registration office at your place of residence. If it is not possible to reach the doctor independently, you can call emergency services at 112, and they will take you to the hospital urgently.

Education for children

Children from Ukraine can receive free education in state schools. Documents for admission should be submitted through the education department in your region, after which the child will be directed to the nearest school corresponding to the place of residence.

Employment

Citizens of Ukraine with temporary protection have the right not only to the privileges listed above but also can work legally in Cyprus without additional permits.
