24-year-old scooter rider dies after crash in Limassol
A new tragedy has occurred in Limassol: a 24-year-old man who suffered serious injuries in an accident on 26 July has died in hospital.
The deceased was identified as 24-year-old Ibrahim Al Awat from Syria.
According to police, the accident occurred after the man, who was riding an electric scooter, travelled along Solon Street, which is not designated for the use of such vehicles.
A preliminary investigation found that the scooter rider was not wearing a protective helmet and had no reflective elements. It was also established that he failed to stop at the STOP sign at the junction of Solon and Saphous streets, after which he collided with a car travelling north.
The car driver left the scene after the accident. Police are continuing their investigation.
