Agrarian Party of Cyprus calls for investigation into transfer of Trimiklini community building
The Agrarian Party of Cyprus has called for an investigation into the terms on which the community building in the village of Trimiklini in the Limassol district was handed over for use as the office of the Commissioner for the Development of Mountain Communities. The party’s chairman, Andreas Christofou, has sent an open letter on the matter.

The building belongs to the Trimiklini Community Council. It previously housed the council itself, as well as services for residents: a medical office, a youth centre and a post office. Since March 2020, it has been home to the office of the Commissioner for the Development of Mountain Communities.
Residents say the building was handed over rent-free. Christofou stresses that this has not yet been established as fact—which is precisely why the party is asking the relevant authorities to conduct an official investigation.
The letter raises six questions: what council decision authorised the transfer and whether there is an agreement; whether the department pays rent or compensation; on what legal grounds the building could have been provided free of charge and whether the proper procedure was followed; who decided to remove the former services from the building; how the community’s financial interests are protected; and on what terms the office currently uses the premises.
The party is also asking for the publication of council meeting minutes, transfer agreements and official correspondence. The Agrarian Party stresses that it is not drawing conclusions in advance and is waiting for “clear answers and a thorough investigation”.
