Influenza A Death Toll in Cyprus Rises to Three
Cyprus has seen two more deaths from Flu A, bringing the total number of fatalities on the island to three this year.
Reports indicate that two patients, aged 87 and 73, died the previous evening while receiving treatment at general hospitals in Nicosia and Paphos. This follows the earlier death of a 43-year-old man at a general hospital in Nicosia. The Ministry of Health has confirmed that all three victims had underlying health conditions.
Meanwhile, hospitals across the island continue to see a significant number of patients in intensive care. Hundreds of individuals are visiting hospitals daily due to flu, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and COVID, with over 200 patients arriving in Nicosia alone each day.
Additionally, many people remain in home isolation due to Flu A. The medical community has urged the public to take all necessary precautions to prevent the further spread of the virus.
It has been reported that Cyprus hospitals are facing overcrowding due to a surge in seasonal respiratory infections, with hospital occupancy exceeding 90%. Among these patients are individuals diagnosed with COVID, Flu A, and other respiratory illnesses.
The only exception is the Makarios Hospital, where occupancy remains at 60%
