Severe thunderstorms and hail expected in Cyprus until Wednesday
Severe thunderstorms with possible hail are expected over Cyprus until Wednesday, October 7, meteorologist Panayiotis Lingis said. However, the island is not expected to see weather as severe as the conditions currently affecting Crete.

According to him, isolated severe thunderstorms will mainly affect the mountains and inland areas over the weekend. Storms are already occurring around Polis Chrysochous, Tillyria and the Akamas peninsula, and other areas may also be affected on Saturday. The phenomena will be less frequent on the southern coast.
“Isolated events, isolated thunderstorms, which are expected to be severe, cannot be ruled out,” Lingis said. Hail is possible, but it cannot be predicted in advance. If the weather meets the criteria, forecasters will issue a yellow warning; no such warning is in place yet.
Unsettled weather will persist until Wednesday. Thunderstorms will occur mainly in the afternoon in the mountains and inland areas — intense but localized.
