The number of building permits in Cyprus increased by 44%
The construction sector of the Republic of Cyprus is showing solid growth. According to the Statistical Service, in the first quarter of 2026, the number of building permits issued increased by 44.1% compared with the same period last year.
From January to March, 2,276 permits were issued, compared with 1,580 a year earlier.
The total value of approved construction projects rose by 41.6%, while their total area increased by 40.2%. The most noticeable growth was recorded in residential construction: the number of planned residential units increased by 58.4%.
In March alone, 776 permits were issued. The total value of these projects amounted to €433.1 million, and their total area was 353.9 thousand square meters.
According to the issued permits, 1,940 residential units are planned to be built.
