Six Unclaimed British Citizens Laid to Rest in Cyprus
The British Cemeteries Committee (BCC) has arranged the burial of six British citizens whose remains were unclaimed by their relatives and had been stored in hospital morgues in Cyprus for several years.
The BCC is a voluntary organization responsible for maintaining British cemeteries in Cyprus.
Despite efforts, the relatives of these British citizens could not be located, which resulted in these individuals remaining unburied for an extended period.
The burial took place on Monday at 3:00 PM at the British Cemetery on Kyriakos Matsis Avenue in Nicosia.
The Committee extended its gratitude to several organizations and individuals who assisted in this matter, including the Consular Section of the British High Commission, the Dean of St. Paul’s Anglican Cathedral, and the BCC Chairman, Reverend Jeremy Crocker. The Committee also thanked the Chairman of the Cyprus International Funeral Services Association (CIFSA) and the Cyprus Residents Planning Group (CRPG), St. John Coombs, for their support.
A Christian graveside service was conducted by Reverend Crocker. Following the burial, a headstone was placed on the grave, bearing the names of the deceased.
