Cyprus has launched online residence permit renewal: what changes for applicants
The Migration Department of the Republic of Cyprus has officially announced a transition to a digital system for renewing temporary residence permits, launching a dedicated online platform for submitting documents. The new measure is intended to fully eliminate month-long queues, automate data processing, and spare foreign residents from having to visit the department in person to submit paper applications.
From today, all holders of temporary residence permits, including visitor categories (Pink Slip) and foreign workers, must submit applications to renew their status exclusively electronically through the updated government portal. The system allows users to upload the necessary set of documents, including bank statements, rental agreements and medical insurance policies, as well as pay government fees by bank card in real time.
After the digital application has been successfully submitted and initially checked automatically, the applicant receives an official electronic confirmation with a unique number, which serves as a legal basis for lawful stay on the island until the final decision is issued. At the same time, the biometric data submission procedure remains in person, but the appointment will now be scheduled automatically through the user’s personal account after the submitted documents are approved.
