Cyprus police to check helmets worn by motorcyclists, cyclists and scooter riders on Sunday
On Sunday, October 4, Cyprus police will conduct a large-scale operation on roads across the island. The main focus will be protective helmets: officers will check motorcyclists, moped riders, cyclists and users of personal mobility devices, such as electric scooters.

In addition to helmets, patrols will target other serious offences, including driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, speeding, dangerous and reckless driving, and running a red light.
The operation was prompted by the statistics. From the beginning of the year to October 3, 18 people were killed in accidents in Cyprus involving motorcyclists, moped riders, cyclists and electric scooter users.
“Police urge all road users to obey the rules and act responsibly and cautiously on the road,” the statement said.
