Despite the inclusion of Alkiviadis's name in the list of senior officers retired as part of annual personnel decisions, work on the final report for the current case will continue. Another senior National Guard officer remaining on active duty has been tasked with its completion.

Alkiviadis held the rank of Brigadier for the last two years. His retirement occurred as part of the standard March rotation procedure, aimed at renewing the command staff and promoting younger officers.

He previously served as Assistant Chief of Staff, overseeing matters related to the National Guard's participation in Cyprus's Presidency of the Council of the European Union. These duties have been handed over to a new Assistant Chief of Staff.

Regarding the explosives case, preliminary results of the disciplinary investigation do not indicate signs of a deliberate criminal offense. If disciplinary violations are identified, a competent board will decide on potential sanctions, with the final word resting with the Chief of the National Guard General Staff.

In parallel, the Larnaca Criminal Investigation Department is conducting an inquiry to determine the origin and circumstances of the explosives' discovery.
