In 2026, positive developments were recorded in Cyprus’s key economic sectors — tourism, banking and real estate.

Tourism

Nissi Beach ranked second among Europe’s best beaches in the European Beach Index 2026, compiled by British travel insurance specialists Quotezone.

Mogren Beach in Montenegro took first place in the ranking, while Cyprus outperformed a number of popular European destinations.

The ranking took into account sea and air temperatures, tourist reviews, accommodation costs, drink prices and the distance from the nearest airport.

Mogren Beach was recognised for its location on the Adriatic coast, warm summer climate and affordable holiday prices.

The recognition for Nissi Beach came shortly after Cyprus Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis said that the island’s tourism industry had returned to a steady recovery following the publication of the latest tourism revenue data.

Bank of Cyprus results

Bank of Cyprus reported after-tax profit of €252 million for the first six months of 2026. This was 7% higher than in the same period last year.

The bank also announced a 20% increase in its interim dividend, citing loan growth, stable asset quality and a resilient financial position.

The interim dividend will amount to €0.24 per ordinary share — approximately €105 million in total.

Bank of Cyprus Group Chief Executive Officer Panikos Nicolaou said that the results for the first half of 2026 reflected the effectiveness of the company’s business model and resilient operating performance.

Cyprus’s real estate sector is also maintaining a positive trend: the number of sale contracts continues to rise, indicating sustained interest in the market.
