Fraudulent Emails Sent to Residents of Cyprus Posing as New Police Chief
Residents of the Republic of Cyprus have started receiving fraudulent emails allegedly sent by the police. These messages inform recipients that they are involved in various criminal activities.
The emails are being dispatched from fake accounts, with the sender claiming to be the new police chief, Themistos Arnaoutis, who was sworn in just yesterday.
The messages contain various police logos and mention Europol, Interpol, and the Ministry of Justice.
In these fraudulent emails, recipients are accused of being linked to criminal cases, including online fraud and child pornography.
The police are warning the public that they will never send such emails and emphasize that individuals should not respond to them under any circumstances.
Instead, recipients of these emails should report them to the police immediately.
