Police officers in Northern Cyprus conducted checks on 1,922 drivers within a 24-hour period, identifying 421 traffic violations.
According to a statement from the police press office, the traffic checks took place nationwide yesterday. As usual, speeding was the most common offense, with 175 instances recorded.
Additionally, 45 drivers were caught ignoring traffic signals, 43 were using their phones while driving, 21 failed to wear seat belts, 19 were driving without a license, and five were found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. Various other offenses were also noted.
As a result of these checks, 30 vehicles were prohibited from continuing on the road, and one driver was arrested.
