Alexei Volodin: Piano Recital
Born in 1977 in Leningrad, Alexei Volodin is one of today’s leading Russian pianists, admired for his sensitivity, expressive sound and technical brilliance. His repertoire includes more than 50 piano concertos, ranging from Beethoven and Brahms to Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Prokofiev, Scriabin, Shchedrin and Medtner.
He gained international recognition after winning the International Géza Anda Competition in Zürich in 2003.
Volodin has appeared with major orchestras worldwide, including the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, NHK Symphony Orchestra, Singapore Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, the Mariinsky Orchestra and the St Petersburg Philharmonic. He has collaborated with conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Kend Nagano, Semyon Bychkov, Stanislav Kochanovsky and Robert Trevino.
His discography features recordings on the Mariinsky label (Prokofiev Piano Concerto No. 4) and Challenge Classics (Rachmaninov, Schumann, Ravel, Scriabin). His Chopin album received the Choc de Classica award and five stars from Diapason.
A regular guest at major international festivals, from Salzburg and La Roque d'Antheron to the White Nights Festival in St. Petersburg and Moscow Easter Festival, Alexie Volodin is an exclusive Steinway Artist.
