General Information about Escape Beach

The beach goes by several names. “Escape” — as in escaping reality, “Sunset” — for the beautiful sunsets, and it's also known as the “Five-Mile Beach” since it's roughly five miles from Kyrenia. And all of these names fit — the place is truly scenic, with stunning views and a relaxed vibe.

However, note that this is a very popular spot, so it’s usually crowded. If you’re looking for a more secluded experience, you might want to explore quieter areas. Here are other beaches in the Alsancak area.

The beach is well-maintained and thoughtfully designed. There’s a sandy area, green lawns, and even a floating pier. Wooden walkways cover the entire territory — making it easy to walk around. The shoreline is gently sloping, perfect for beginners learning to swim. Just a few meters offshore is a charming rocky islet accessible via a sandbar. It not only adds to the view but also acts as a breakwater.

Escape Beach Infrastructure

As a private beach, it offers everything you need for a comfortable stay: cushioned sun loungers, umbrellas, showers, toilets, changing cabins, and Wi-Fi.

The water activities include everything imaginable: jet skis, banana boats, kayaks, pedal boats, water skis, and even scuba diving with instructors. Just a heads-up — diving spots fill up fast, so it’s best to book in advance.

You can also go paragliding and enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the coastline. There’s a beach volleyball court and massage zones on-site — great for combining active fun with relaxation.

Café and Entertainment

Feeling hungry? There’s a café and the Cinco Millas restaurant, which can accommodate up to 200 guests. The menu caters to all tastes, featuring French, Turkish, Italian, and Chinese cuisine. There’s plenty of fresh fish, meat, salads, and treats like chocolate waffles. You can even order food directly to your sunbed — the waitstaff will bring it to you. Just keep in mind — outside food is not allowed.

In the evenings, the party kicks off: at the Loca Disco Club, you’ll find foam parties and performances by popular DJs from Europe. Both locals and tourists come here especially for the nightlife.

Entrance Fee and Opening Hours

There’s an entrance fee — 800 lira (as of late 2024), which includes a sunbed and umbrella. Children under 10 enter for free. While the beach can get crowded, many visitors feel the price is one of the few downsides.

The beach complex is open daily from morning until late evening (around 19:00–23:00 depending on the day). The restaurants operate during the same hours as the rest of the venue.

How to Get to Escape / Sunset Beach

The beach is located 9 kilometers from Kyrenia, just before you reach the town of Alsancak. You can get there by dolmuş (minibuses) or by car.

By Public Transport

You can reach Escape Beach via minibuses (called “dolmuş”) that depart regularly from Kyrenia several times an hour. You can catch them at bus stops or any major intersection. The front sign will say “Girne — Alsancak” or “Girne — Alsancak — Lapta.”

You can also take a bus from Kyrenia to Guzelyurt — it follows the same route. Just tell the driver "Escape Beach Club" — he will understand where to stop. Accordingly, you can also get to Escape Beach from Guzelyurt.

By car

The drive from Kyrenia to Escape Beach takes between 10 to 15 minutes. Drive along the Girne Çevreyolu road, at the roundabout take the first exit, and continue on the same road; at the next roundabout, take the first exit onto Karaoğlanoğlu Caddesi, then turn right onto Şht. Ali Lakay Sk — the beach will be on your right.
