15-Year-Old Creator of "Taco vs. Burrito" Sells His Hit to PlayMonster for Millions
Alex Butler from Seattle has become a true sensation — at just 15 years old, he sold his card game "Taco vs. Burrito" to major American company PlayMonster. The story began when he was only seven: he came up with the game as a school assignment, and his parents supported the idea and helped launch the project.
The Butler family initially raised around $25,000 through a crowdfunding platform, then established their own company, Hot Taco Inc., found a manufacturer, and began selling the game via Amazon. The price was quite affordable — just $20 per box.
To everyone's surprise, the game quickly became a hit. Over the next few years, around 1.5 million copies were sold, including expansion packs. In the very first year, sales brought in over a million dollars in revenue. Interestingly, Alex never treated it as anything more than a business — he openly admitted he saw it as a way to make money.
Now, following the deal with PlayMonster, "Taco vs. Burrito" is set for a second life — the company plans to release a collector's edition by the end of the year. As for Alex, he doesn't plan to create more games. He is currently more interested in music, sports, and video games. It seems board games are already a thing of the past for him.
