Scheduled power outages in Lefkoşa and Girne on October 7 in Northern Cyprus

The energy company Kıbrıs Türk Elektrik Kurumu (KIB-TEK) announced scheduled power outages on Monday, October 7, 2025, in several areas of Lefkoşa and Girne. The reason is technical maintenance and modernization of power lines.

Girne

In Girne, electricity supply will be suspended from 10:00 to 13:00. The following areas will temporarily be without power:

eastern part of Alsancak,

Yeşiltepe district,

area around Espri Hotel,

the villages of İncesu and Ilgaz,

pumping stations,

eastern coast of Alsancak and Çıkartma Beach area,

southern part of Alsancak National Park,

area around Ada Hotel and the mountainous part of the western bypass road.

The work is related to maintenance of medium-voltage power lines.

Lefkoşa

In Lefkoşa, electricity will be turned off from 09:00 to 15:00 in a system of alternating 30-minute outages, so-called “colored load.” This means that different areas will lose power in rotation to reduce network load.

The outages will affect:

Lefkoşa industrial zone,

Taşkınköy district,

blocks between the Parliament and City Park,

areas near ministries and government offices,

Nalbantoğlu Hospital,

Göçmenköy district,

adjacent streets and areas around Near East University (NEU).

KIB-TEK urged residents to take precautions in advance, disconnect sensitive equipment, and avoid unnecessary use of electricity during the works.

The energy company emphasized that such temporary outages are necessary to increase network stability and prevent unplanned interruptions in the future.
