The Chamber of Architects, a member of the Union of Chambers of Turkish Cypriot Engineers and Architects (KTMMOB), will hold the 8th Congress on Architecture and Education on November 1 at the Concorde Hotel in Lefkoşa, Northern Cyprus. The theme of the event is “Quality Spaces, Natural and Environmental Disasters, and Architecture.”
In a written statement, the Chairman of the Chamber of Architects, Onur Olguner, announced that the congress will be organized in cooperation with university architecture faculties and chaired by Erçim Ulug. Olguner emphasized that disasters are viewed not only as physical destructions but also as tests of social, ethical, and spatial structures.
The program will include sessions on disaster preparedness, preservation of cultural heritage and historical monuments, the impact of modern architectural approaches and urban transformation, as well as the relationship between architectural education and disaster-related issues. Olguner highlighted that the goal of the congress is not only to discuss post-disaster recovery but also to change the ways of collective thinking among society, institutions, and professionals to enhance resilience through shared responsibility and collaborative knowledge production.
