Near East University of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has been recognized as one of the top ten most influential universities globally in two categories by the London-based newspaper Times Higher Education. Additionally, it has made it into the list of the 50 most influential universities across four categories.

The university ranks sixth worldwide for the quality of education and is the eighth most influential institution globally in the "Sustainable Cities and Societies" category. This category highlights universities that significantly contribute to their regions, societies, and the world through innovative work and the development of art and social heritage.

Furthermore, Near East University secured the 45th position in the "Partnerships for the Goals" category and ranked 46th in the world for "Gender Equality." The Nicosia-based university also placed among the top 200 institutions globally in the "Health and Well-being" category.

"Our university contributes to achieving sustainable development goals not only in Northern Cyprus and Turkey but also worldwide," commented Professor Irfan Suat Günsel, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Near East University, regarding the ranking.

With the recent reevaluation of the "World University Rankings 2024," announced by Times Higher Education in June, Near East University has climbed one spot among the world's most influential universities, now positioned in the 201-300 group. In today’s updated ranking, it stands as the fourth most influential university in Turkey and the most prominent institution in Northern Cyprus.

The "World University Impact Rankings 2024," published by Times Higher Education, one of the most reputable ranking organizations in global higher education, assesses the contributions of universities worldwide toward achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
