More than 4,000 people have obtained TRNC citizenship since the beginning of the year
From January 1 to November 12, 2023, 4,263 people acquired TRNC citizenship. Among them, 764 individuals were naturalized under an exceptional process by the decision of the Council of Ministers, and an additional 867 obtained citizenship because they previously had a work permit.
These figures are provided by the "Yeniduzen" publication, citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country. It is also reported that among those who obtained citizenship after years of official work on the island, 808 were originally from Turkey, and 59 were representatives of other nationalities.
Furthermore, spouses and children of those who had previously become citizens of Northern Cyprus due to work permits also obtained citizenship. In this way, another 1,886 people were naturalized.
Since the beginning of 2023, 746 people have also acquired citizenship through marriage: 484 men and 262 women. Of those who gained citizenship through marriage, 580 are originally from Turkey, and 166 are representatives of other nationalities.
It is also noted that while the publication awaited statistical data, an additional 44 people obtained TRNC passports in accordance with the resolution of the Council of Ministers dated November 12.
