Nicosia Emergency Hospital Receives Advanced Ultrasound Machine
The Nicosia Emergency Hospital has received the most powerful ultrasound machine on the island, thanks to a donation from Türkiye İş Bankası in celebration of its 70th anniversary in Northern Cyprus.
The official handover ceremony was attended by Minister of Health Hakan Dinçyürek, Burhan Nalbantoğlu Hospital’s Chief Physician Adil Özyılkan, Emergency Hospital’s Chief Physician Erol Uçaner, Türkiye İş Bankası General Director Serhan Akşahin, along with bank representatives and medical staff.
According to Minister Dinçyürek, bank officials approached the ministry a few months ago, expressing their desire to make a meaningful contribution in honor of their milestone anniversary.
“We informed them of our urgent need for a highly advanced ultrasound device—one that wasn’t yet available on the island,” he explained.
In response, the bank donated a state-of-the-art ultrasound machine worth 3.63 million Turkish lira to the Emergency Hospital. This advanced device is not just for diagnostics—it will play a critical role in patient treatment. It can be used both outside the operating room for imaging procedures and during surgeries to detect tumors and other abnormalities.
Minister Dinçyürek also praised Türkiye İş Bankası’s significant contributions to the Turkish Cypriot community, noting that its support extends far beyond banking and has played a key role in the region’s development.
To express gratitude for the donation, Minister Dinçyürek presented a commemorative plaque to Serhan Akşahin, General Director of Türkiye İş Bankası TRNC.
