Road checks: 374 drivers fined in Northern Cyprus
Yesterday, traffic units of the General Directorate of Police in Northern Cyprus carried out raid inspections and checked 2,408 drivers, as a result of which 374 drivers were officially recorded and legal proceedings were initiated against them.
According to police information, 30 vehicles were taken out of service and one driver was detained.
The list of recorded violations includes: 186 cases of speeding, 22 driving under the influence of alcohol, 4 driving without a driver’s license and without insurance, 6 driving without insurance, 5 using a mobile phone while driving, 12 not wearing seat belts, 3 driving without technical inspection, 12 driving without a registration certificate, 1 dangerous driving, 9 failure to comply with rules for using electric scooters, 4 disobeying traffic lights, 13 failure to comply with road signs, 1 riding a motorcycle without a protective helmet, 1 using a vehicle with a muffler, 1 applying tinted film, 1 disobeying police orders, and 93 other violations.
For residents, this means an increased likelihood of inspections and the risk of fines or vehicle seizure if violations are detected. Police urged drivers to comply with traffic rules and carry the necessary documents.
