The Only Athlete from the TRNC to Compete at the Paris Olympics on August 2
The only athlete from the TRNC will compete at the Paris Olympics on August 2, representing the Turkish team in the high jump.
The high jump competition featuring the Turkish Cypriot athlete will take place on August 2, at 11:00 AM, at the Stade de France.
Buse Savaşkan, born on February 24, 1999, in Cyprus, began her international athletic career at the European Athletics U20 Championships in Tbilisi in 2016.
It was previously reported that the athlete from Northern Cyprus ranked 28th in the world and made it into the top 32 athletes who will compete in the high jump at the Olympics. Her coach is Ukrainian specialist Gennadiy Zuyev.
A total of 102 athletes from the Turkish team will compete for medals at the Paris Olympics.
The flag bearers for the Turkish delegation will be Mete Gazoz, who won Turkey's first Olympic gold medal in archery in Tokyo in 2020, and boxer Busenaz Sürmeneli, who also became an Olympic champion in Japan.
