The Federation honored the best athletes and coaches of the season

The Athletics Federation held an awards ceremony titled “Atletizmin Oscarları” — the “Athletics Oscars.” The event recognized athletes who achieved success during the past season both at championships in Turkey and on the international stage.
Awards were given to athletes who won podium places at tournaments in Turkey, were selected for national teams, set records, and earned the right to compete for the TRNC national team. Coaches who made a key contribution to athlete development were also honored.
Opening the evening, Athletics Federation President Ferhat Sakallı emphasized that the federation’s journey from a single athlete to dozens of successful competitors was made possible thanks to family support.
“We take children starting in primary school, and today they are fighting for medals in Turkey and Europe. This proves we are moving in the right direction,” Sakallı noted.
He highlighted the success of Buse Savaşkan, who reached the Olympic Games final: “Buse’s Olympic final showed everyone what Cypriot athletes are capable of. She became a benchmark for the new generation. We will continue to provide our athletes with the same support so we can see them on the international stage more often,” he added, thanking families for their constant involvement and patience.
The Federation thanked the Grand Sapphire Hotel and sponsors for supporting the event and presented them with commemorative plaques.
