"Omonia" player Tahsin Ozler becomes the first Turkish Cypriot to be called up to the national team of the Republic of Cyprus of all ages since the creation of the national team. The club's academy graduate received an invitation to the Cyprus U-19 national football team for the next two training sessions.

The training sessions will take place at the public stadium of Pyrgos on February 20 and 21 under the supervision of head coach Arsen Mikhailovich, who will select players for the upcoming UEFA European Under-19 Championship, which will take place from July 15 to 28 in Northern Ireland.

It is worth reminding that last week, 18-year-old Turkish Cypriot footballer Tahsin Ozler signed his first professional contract. Until the end of the 2026/27 season, he will play for the Cypriot football club "Omonia."

In January, he made history by becoming the first Turkish Cypriot since 1957 to play for the first team of a Cypriot club, coming off the bench to play the last half-hour in a Coca-Cola Cup match. His team secured a 3-0 victory over "Digenis Ipson."

It is noted that Tahsin Ozler is the second Turkish Cypriot to play for the "Omonia" first team. The first, Ibrahim Aziz, played for the club from Nicosia in the 1956-57 season.

Tahsin Ozler went through the club's academy, signing his first contract in 2017 when he was 11 years old.
