The football team of the TRNC Assembly played against the team of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey in Antalya. The match was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Turkish Republic and the 40th anniversary of the TRNC.
The football match took place at the Nirvana Cosmopolitan hotel stadium. The team of the Northern Cyprus parliament, composed of the Minister of Internal Affairs Dursun Oguz, the Minister of Public Works and Transport Erhan Arykli, the mayor of the Alsancak-Lapta-Çamlıbel municipality Firat Ataser, as well as deputies and members of the parliament from different sessions, took the field.
Before the match, a ceremony was held that began with a minute of silence. The Republican Assembly team entered the field with a banner that read, "Champions never die... Rebellion is our common cause." The Consul General of the TRNC in Antalya, Cem Topçu, watched the game from the stands.
The match ended in a hard-fought draw – 3:3. In the lineup of the TRNC Assembly team, Mayor Firat Ataser, the manager of financial, technical, and parliamentary services Hasan Buyukoglu, and the parliament press attaché Burhan Janbaz distinguished themselves.
At the end of the match, both teams were awarded cups and medals.
After the match, the president of the Sports Club of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Adem Tatlı, thanked the members of the TRNC parliament for accepting the invitation and proposed to hold the next match in Cyprus.
