Head of Turkey’s Higher Education Council Visits Northern Cyprus
The President of the Council of Higher Education of Turkey (YÖK), Erol Özvar, has arrived in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) for a three-day official visit. The focus of the visit is to strengthen and enhance the quality of higher education in the country.
According to a statement from the TRNC Ministry of National Education, the visit will include a series of meetings and evaluations aimed at raising academic standards in Northern Cyprus’s universities.
The Turkish delegation is expected to hold discussions on current challenges in the higher education system and work collaboratively on proposals to address them.
During the visit, the YÖK delegation will meet with key TRNC officials, including President Ersin Tatar, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu, and YÖDAK President Professor Aykut Hocanın. A large-scale meeting will also be held, bringing together the Minister of National Education, the president of YÖDAK, and university rectors from across the TRNC. The meeting will focus on identifying and addressing the most pressing issues facing the higher education sector.
